说起后朋(post-punk)，还得先提一下朋克(punk)，朋克是上世纪70年代中后期开始涌现的摇滚分支，与其称之为简单摇滚还不如说它是情绪小品。音乐更多的是体现年轻人渴望思想解放和反抗传统的一种情绪表白，说穿了朋克就是愤青。这种音乐风格有些过分重视情绪表达反而忽视技巧和音乐本身了，但那个时代就是这样。以美英为主的发达国家随后诞生了很多愤青乐队，可喜的是某些家伙只是继承了朋克鼻祖sex pistols的桀骜不逊，却彻底改变了棒子面般简单粗糙的三和弦，取而代之的是更富试验性和技术性的演绎方式，与原来相比流畅阴暗却不改精髓，这就是所谓的后朋克。
现在可以说说Bloc party了，乐队最初由黑人主唱Kele Okerere和吉他手Russell Lissack联手创建，随后又有贝斯Gordon Moakes以及华裔鼓手Matt Tong的加盟才算完整。也许是因为Kele的黑人音乐基因给这支乐坛新军注入了新奇的活力，他们以不可思议的表现当选了英国音乐周刊评选的05年最佳新人，由此这支后朋新生代得以在芸芸众生中脱颖而出。很多人都认为他们05年的新唱片《Silent Alarm》确可称之为惊艳之作了。开场曲“Like Eating Glass”颇具张力，晕晕糊糊的迷幻吉他配上鼓手Matt令人血脉喷张的鼓点，立刻就能让你感受到他们强劲的电力，而这样强劲的电鼓声你几乎在整张专辑中都能听到。但你完全不用担心被电晕，他们很懂得让人得以喘息，专辑中“Blue Light”、“Compliments”和“So Here We Are”等都是Kele梦中呓语般的柔情之作，让人沉醉。如果要我总的来评价这张《Silent Alarm》的话，那我也不会告诉你这张专辑有多么好听，因为用来形容他们音乐的词，只有惊艳。
最后想特别提一下他们的华裔混血鼓手Matt Tong，据说是乐队其他三人听到有人在房间里打鼓而拍门拉拢他加入Bloc Party的。呵呵，缘分啊。
